I bought this on day of release (along with the cd) and mine DOES have the black inner sleeves - with the lyrics on sleeve two. No hype sticker was on it though.

I bought this very soon after the release date, probably the first week, and it has the white DRG Malago sleeves (both dated 5/88), and the two black inner sleeves. No hype sticker or tour flyer though.

Regarding the white sleeves. I too bought this on day of release and it came without the printed inners. I wrote to Polygram Record Operations (as it was back then) and they posted me the printed inners separately.

I bought this album new from HMV the day it came out back in 1988 and I had to wait while they unsealed the box, very exciting and one of my all time favourite albums by any band in any genre. I sold the original copy when I switched to CD's in 1992 and purchased this copy in 2019 when I began collecting vinyl again.

This one came with printed lyric and photo inner sleeves on a black background. Whereas, the original copy I bought in 1988 had both the DRG plain white paper inner sleeves and the black lyric/photo inner sleeves. I also, previously owned the 2018 Blackened 180g version. Both sound slightly different from a mixing point of view but I sold it as I longed for the original sound from the 1988 UK Vertigo vinyl version. I would say that the guitars on the 2018 Blackened version sounded more up front not better or worse just different and the drums sounded more balanced in volume with the guitars. Again, as with the original 1988 release the bass was non-existent, which is how the album was meant to sound according to the band and who am I to argue. Overall, a true classic record.

I bought this pretty much on the day of release and it has the inner lyric/pic sleeves but also the white DRG Malago sleeves. One dated 4/88 the other 8/88 which ties in with the "taken from random boxes" comment by totallyvinyl

My copy seems to be variant 3. It has the white DRG Malago sleeves, no inserts and the hype sticker. I bought this many years ago, not exactly sure when. The sleeves may have the date of manufacture on them ("MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN 6/90")

I don't like this release's sound quality. I don't know why but I think it's different from original.

Same labels too. Only difference is Matrix/Runout and inners. (See below)
