- Edited 18 years agoThe book is quite beautiful, and I must say, I love almost all of the remixes, especially the ones by Oliver Lieb, Autechre, MLO and Hardfloor. The music takes me back to the post YMO and Ippu-do days. The spirit of late 80's Japanese synth pop lives!
- I had been looking for this cd book for a long time and i won it on e bay some weeks back, its very hard to find very rare and out of print.
i got it for the autechre remix and i have to say its not the best.
Some good work by MLO mind you.
This was out in 1994 and two of the best label's at the time warp and rising high were asked to get the remixers in warp got 3 aphex ae and mr R h kirk and the rest for the rising high gang.
It comes in a very nice book, its as big as a 10" record. very nice stuff. I gald i own it. - overall i wasn't terribly impressed with this release, however it remains one of my most prized possessions due to the big picture book it comes packaged in, and the fact that it's really hard to come by. not to mention it's a must have for any collector of the various artists involved with the project.
the book is basically a whole bunch of semi-abstract color photographs, and there is an area in the back cover, recessed in foam rubber, where the cd snaps into place. total cool-factor.
my favorite track is the autechre remix... very minimal, and it's got funk. surprisingly, i'm not really into the aphex remix.
