This is an excellent introduction to McTells' music for anyone who hasn't heard it before. The selection of recordings is very good and the way they cleaned up the music from whatever source they used was well done indeed. The fidelity is good for the most part regardless of the period from when the original recordings were made. For sources that were around 70 years old when this was pressed it is surprisingly good. A few songs are dark sounding but most of them sound quite good. If you like old blues this is a compilation you can't be without. The man had talent and it's abundant on this pressing.
