- Dom & Roland is the best DnB artist out there, not only because his pre-Neurofunk era stuff like this is godlike, but he continues to churn out mindblowing screamers to this day. I'm so glad Ed Rush & Optical have released Wormhole as a honeypot for mainstream DnB fans, and kept hidden gems like this in their proper place. The air is rarified at this altitude, but the view is amazing.
- Edited 10 months agoAside from the excellent music on this 12", the album artwork is one of my all-time favourites.
- Edited 10 years agoA great 12" this, both sides are fantastic!
On the A side we have "The Storm", classic Dom & Roland production. Haunting intro, great amen edits á la Dom & Roland and a huge bassline. This is a great amen roller which is guaranteed to have you air drumming along!
On the flip there's the more sublime "Sonic Shock". 32 bars of dark pads before Dom takes us deep into the jungle. With its snappy drum programming, spooky pads and bumping bassline "Sonic Shock" perfectly demonstrates the dark jungle sound of the 90's.
This 12" is not exactly anything groundbreaking but damn is it good, + it's dirt cheap so pick it up!
