Reviews
- Edited 11 years agoGreat early 70's progressive hard rock. One of my favourite lesser known Canadian bands/LP's of this era.
The album is very well recorded/mixed, the musicianship and songwriting is super tight, with loads of guitar/keyboard interplay throughout. A touch of Quebecois lyrical humour thrown into the mix, and we have what I consider to be a near perfect album. Guitarist Serge Vallieres would later join the Ville Emard Blues Band.
I own the first pressing of this LP titled "Holocauste à Montréal" Polydor 2424 048 (Allo Police "Wanted" jacket), which over the years has become a sought after collectors item. The album was then reissued as a self titled LP a few weeks after its initial release with entirely different cover art (brick building). This was the end result of legal backlash brought about by the LP's mockery of a then popular trashy magazine "Allo Police", not to mention poking fun at the "The October Crisis" related photos that made the headlines only months earlier. Polydor thought it best to change the artwork/title, and reissued the album as 'Vos Voisins' Polydor 2424 147.
My Vos Voisins YouTube video is featured here at Discogs. Great introduction for anyone curious about this lesser known band...
