- It’s cool to own if you want that little extra Saints thing that nobody else may have. But the quality is for lack of a better word garbage and while it’s rad to hear how they sounded before Stranded, it’s a pretty skipable purchase just hold out for the re-release of (I’m) Stranded coming this year, if the rumours are true!
- Just got my copy direct from the label.
I had the original CD back in the 90s and this version sounds much the same ...possibly better.
My copy doesn't seem to have any obvious surface noise that i can detect. The recording itself is pretty rough ,distorted and muffled at times , so i can understand that some listeners might find this off-putting ... but hey, it's 'primitive' !
The vinyl is a transparent hot pink, which looks good enough to eat.
The numbered copy reference is printed on the sticker which is on the shrink wrap, and not on the actual cover.
Plain white paper inner with no download.
Very happy to have this awesome album on vinyl.
Best played at high volume !!! - Not really mind blowing. Best to satisfy your curiosity if you wanted insight into the early development of the Saints. Borders on grating and outright unlistenable at times, but hey that first LP was no sonic marvel either. To add insult to injury, this dubious pressing has surface noise throughout, the music barely drowning it out. Save your money and just stream what's on YouTube. Not really needed on vinyl.
- as stated below this is a bootleg release from italy, this is pressed on a cross between pink and burgundy vinyl and since it is a boot i assume this was only for the euro market as boots are not released as rsd releases here in the us, anyway REGARDLESS!! its still nice to have this on vinyl as im not sure that in 2021 ed kuepper really cares about these long ago siants recordings from 1974, this comes with a hype sticker and there was 500 numbered copies pressed, ( i got copy 400 no less) anyway really great raw sounding garage rock, if you liked the 1976 debut on emi im stranded you will love these tracks, these are a bit more raw then the emi recorded tracks from 1976 that made the im stranded lp shape up, i guess as ed puts it best in another universe this would have been the saints first record!!!! its been 26 years since these tracks last surfaced on cd back in 1995 so i did not have much hope there would be a vinyl version. boot or not this turned out great!!!! im just thinking THE SAINTS BACK FROM 1973 TO 75 per say?? they must have done gigs w other great killer hard rock aussie bands like BUFFALO, LOBBY LOYDE, BUSTER BROWN, hey MAYBE EVEN AC/DC at the beggining, i have no evidence of that but if it did happen man!!! the power those gigs must have blown out!!!!!!!!! great record glad i got this copy....
