Show All 20 Reviews- Great package all 8 sides play great.
Shame about the nervous coked out idiot giggling away side 5 onwards. - My copy is dead silent.
The first three records look good, but the fourth has lots of micro-scratches and a few minor scuff marks -- all inaudible, though.
Really nice presentation overall. - Really impressed with this box set. Vinyl is flawless, sounds clear and great for a live recording, packaging is high quality and elegant. Would definitely recommend.
- Contemplated hard on RSD, Went back yesterday to the record store and they had it marked 49.99 so that made my mind up for me. Insane mastering on these old recordings. If your thinking about buying it do it.
- The music is great but the pressing is really poor. Side seven looks like a ice rink and side eight has a really bad scratch that would damage a cartridge.
Please inspect before you play it. Something is wrong with Optimal pressings. - Excellent recording of this 1975 concert. Smooth and quiet pressing. I think the package could have benefited by including a booklet vs the wrap around sheet with minimal information. But you do buy it for the music which is special
- Anyone missing one of the records? My copy is missing the second record (sides 3 and 4) and has two copies of the third record (sides 5 and 6). :(
- Edited one year agoOnly four years since his debut, John Prine already wrote so many classic songs. They are all here in two intimate sets.
The pressing on all four records is superb. Flat, silent and without a pop or crackle.
The sound is incredible. You hear every detail in John's voice and guitar. Also great they left in the audience reaction. Listening to these records is like you are in the same room that night.
My only complaint is the look on one record (side 7 and 8). It's a bit scuffed or dirty, but nothing audible. I haven't clean this one yet.
A great addition to my original studio albums. Maybe even better as a expierence of some 'prime Prine'. - High quality all around. The packaging is beautiful and well done. It feels substantial and thoughtful. The set is a perfect slice of Prine's first decade. The sound is great! LPs are quiet as a mouse. I didn't know much about this pressing before buying it, but rest assured it's another fantastic job by Kevin Gray. I also love how they've maintained all of the banter which is a key component of John's live appeal. This is no RSD cash grab, this is a legit collectors item.
- The new dirtiest album I've ever bought. Just filthy. Marked up to the point that I almost took it back. Glad I listened to it first because the sound wasnt affected at all. It is a brilliant and lively record. Sounds like you're in the club listening to live. Long live the great John Prine!
