Show All 17 ReviewsThis LP is essential to Nina’s catalog, in part because everything starts here but more so because the minimal piano, bass and drums combo puts Simone’s prodigious talents on full display.
The KG mastered version sounds great. Good pressing with minimal background noise. Jacket is properly printed. Quality packaging. Overall an excellent intersection of value vs. quality. Can’t really beat the quality here at the $20 price point.

Wonderful clear pressing. Sound ( mainly the vocal) has a bias toward the left speaker, but it does not detract from how awesome this is. Timeless and beautiful music!

Does anyone have a copy of this blue vinyl version that is NOT distractingly panned left? My copy is at least 80-20 with the left being the 80. Is it a defective pressing or just my copy? Listening on a Accuphase E-800, Clear audio innovation, Kiseki Purple Heart Cart, Accuphase C-47 Phono Stage. The quality is very nice, the lp is quiet, and an amazing listen, but if that hard panned left, I wish they would have folded it to mono.

Sonido sorprendentemente bueno, la impresión y calidad de audio de esta reedición es magnifica, vale cada euro.
La duración del track 5 del lado B es 6:47 en lugar de 3:05 como marca en la contraportada.

Compared to the black versions ive tried (either too noisy or too warped) this one is actually the quieter press. Two attempts of this one again badly warped. 3rd one less warped but still off centre too and i can detect this too. However despite being quieter it also comes across clearer to me which on the whole is great but its slightly hotter with just abit more sibilance on the vocal peaks on Dont Smoke in Bed than the black version.

This album is sick! Amazing sound quality. A few pops on Side A but I still need to give it a clean so hopefully that fixes it. Regardless, the price is right for this kind of sound quality.
Great sound quality, impressive pressing. You would hope all records were recorded and pressed like this. And the music is timeless, breathtaking. Really cool.

I wanted to compare this pressing to my AP 45rpm which is $$$ now. Happy to report this sounds just as good if you get a clean copy like mine. Sold my AP so I can by even more great records like this one.
My local shop had one of these blue copy but the vinyl sounds exactly the same as the black version (cracks and pops issues) so I'll copy here my review of the black version :
Beautiful mastering by KG as expected the sound is stellar. However the pressing is FAULTY which comes to me as a surprise given it is pressed at RTI. The side A is bumpy (side warp) which is causing crackly noise when the stylus pass over that side. Side B is completly riddled with crack noises even after cleaning. This release is so beautifuly made with great tip-on jacket with beautiful mat artwork that it is really a shame that the pressing was not done properly. Certainly the first time I'm highly dissapointed by a RTI manufactured record, guess they also had to diminish their QC with the pressure on volumes that has been seen in the industry (sigh).
