Arguably I was a little too young to hear this in 1984. The first time I heard the riff of Automan was in the 90's - when Snap! did Rhythm is a Dancer, which clearly borrowed some of the best bits of this. At least 50% of this album still totally stands up - some 40s later. A great achievement, no doubt. Destination Earth could have been written last week as far as I'm concerned. Massive respect due to Ben for this, and all of his work to be fair. Automan and Dream 2 Science are where it's at for me.
I just picked one up from HHV in Germany today; there is a reissue of this.- I was lucky enough to find a clean playing copy with a great sleeve accept for a very bad seam split on one side. no wear on sleeve other than that.
Automan is so way ahead of its time. Great LP
is the CD ripped direct from vinyl like most remastered or digital remastered re release etc its a vinyl transfer i heard.- I was lucky enough to revel in this album when it came out originally and played the darn thing on a loop for a year.
They could have released the album with Side A only, that side is the sweetest chunk of Electro ever to make it. In fact Newcleus could have packed up and after never released a thing after.
Now this may sound odd, but I never really liked Jam On It, the wikki-wikki gets on my nerves and is so far from the quality of Computer Age.
The intro to Computer Age is a stone cold classic. - Does anyone know if they released the original arrangement of "no more running" on vinyl? The version that appears on this record is good but I heard the original attamgement on Spotify and prefer it. Would like to have it on wax so I can play it out.
- I'm going to have to agree with Bassface72. This album encorperates some of the coolest beats and rhymes of the 80's! Electro/Hip Hop/Dance Fusion! Spectacular Album! 5/5!
- I have to agree with FACE, this album set the standards of early 80's HipHOP, I dj houseparties and some downtown L.A clubs, and I can tell you sometimes when the party is winding down I put trak-1A or 2B and the crowd comes alive again, it's also the perfect album to enjoy on a hot Sunday afternoon with some SOCO on ice***"if it's too loud youz too old**world's DJ's unite & turn it up!!!
