This is a real GEM and once again nobody knows it!Pure psychedelic majesty from beginning to end...its a wonderfully dark and kaleidoscopic popsike trip, full of quirky songs and psychy little touches...it shimmers!Jobriath is on fine form here and the band back him all the way.Similar to the 1st Coven,Tingling mothers circus and the mighty Queens nectarine machine..its a truly classic piece, and the sleeves a FRAMER!This is begging for a cd release snd soon PLEASE Highly recommended to all you tripsters.Go buy!!!!!!

Not the strongest showing for Decca but an underrated psych goodie.
In general the recording sounds a bit thin or hollow. There is some bass in the instrument itself but the others seem to often be missing a lower register, although the quality varies a bit.
At its best its quite decent but the mix is still confused and everything blends too easily. Drums are very anemic especially and even if vocals do take control mostly they too suffer from a lack of separation and grounding a bit.

Equipment Used:
Technics SL-1210GR Turntable
Paratrace tipped Nagaoka MP-200 Cartridge
Cyrus 2 Amplifier
System Fidelity SF-3050 Tower Speakers

INSANELY good record. A sunshine pop palette but dark, thoughtful lyrics and lots of drama. I really feel like it might be the most underrated lp of the sixties. Got my copy ten years ago for £2.99 inc postage and it still seems to be slept on.

Unbelievably ignored major label psych pop gem. Very professional and elegant. Dark Bird is a 6/5 masterpiece and worth the cost of the LP alone.

I've read there is an unreleased 2nd album. The "Prison Walls" single is supposed to be taken from it... Which means someone is probably sitting on a masterpiece.

A severely underrated album by a severely underrated artist, Jobriath Boone. (Credited as Jobraith Salisbury on this album.) Hints of '60s popsike, early progressive rock, and baroque pop mixed with tight vocal harmonies and talented instrumentalists.

If you are lucky enough to find a copy, snatch that sucker.
