As a child I found this album because my Father Bernie Grundman had mastered it, and sometimes those albums wound up at home ... in an area I was " allowed to check out" as long as they weren't his coveted bee-bop albums ... But Blue Desert got me and the unlikely track that stuck with me was From Nowhere To This Town... its perfect when you consider I was a 5 year old , but the jazzier tracks were more mature for me, and as the years have gone by, those other tracks have emerged and hold up against any album that has pretended to be "jazz influenced pop" or just great quality song writing... its no wonder that genre is referenced or that you'll hear Blue Desert Beautiful People on Yacht Rock Radio on Sirius XM 2x a day, because its every bit the quality of Steely Dan or anyone else on that station. I was re-introduced to Marc because of that radio station... And it led me reach out to him , citing the connection with my father... and I really would like to interview him about making records in 1979 with the cast of characters he has on this album , they are and always have been at the top of anyone's favorites. Abe Laboriel, Jeff Porcaro , Omartian, Ralph H, Jay Graydon... i mean all of the players on the album are superb, but the songs are what carry it , and its not like any of those musicians stand out like its a jazz album at all , its just such a positive energy album that will stand the test of all time

Absolutely fantastic record and the players are all the top-notch ones playing on artists like Al Jarreau etc.
