Show All 18 Reviews- Yeah my copy is quite loud crackling on the quieter sections, of which there are many! Start of first side is not very good and then start of second side is very, very bad. Would have bought the cd but in their wisdom they have banished the cd version!
- my copy doesn't have surface noise, or distortion, but even after cleaning (Knosti only) side b is full of crackles. barely listenable!
- The sound of my copy is actually very good. Yes, even after a good cleaning, there is some non-fill noise, but the tracks play beautifully, and overall I am very happy with it. I have heard far more pressings of worse quality than this. Very typical Antonoff sound, but the songs are catchy and fun.. you can't open a record and except it to play perfect, unless you are buying a MOFI, Analogue Productions, or just a select few others.. Take time to wet and dry clean your record, and the gross majority will sound very good.. your stylus and ears will thank you.. most importantly, I dig Lorde
- My copy sounded great, little to no surface noice and overall better sound quality than all the other variants except black.
- Beautiful music and beautiful pressing! There’s a bit of surface noise and some very random distortion, but for the most part I think the other issues were my own fault (not cleaned properly). The second side sounded especially good though.
There’s also small differences in the music itself on “Dominoes” and “Mood Ring” that I’ve only noticed on the vinyl vs. the streaming version. In “Dominoes” when Lorde mentions the guy who used to do so much cocaine but now smokes marijuana, Jack Antonoff, the producer, adds in a really bright vocal harmony/interjection. “Mood Ring” has a less pop-oriented sound, with more pronounced drums and no harmonious vocal opening. - Sort of sounds like a Lana Del Rey record, but with Lorde singing. Jack Antonoff assisted with the instruments and production. Also, IMO, the brown opaque vinyl matches the color of her tan skin. It is also not as noisy as others have complained, but I always clean my records on my VPI machine.
- Edited one year agoLook, I'm just going to cut to the chase here; this pressing is garbage-- PURE BROWN VINYL CRAP. Abundant surface noise (on multiple copies), and the dreaded non-fill distortion spread liberally like a poison across both sides. I rarely say this, but unless you're a total fan-boy/girl and forgive all sins, this is worth avoiding. Lorde's such a good singer. Hope she goes a lot further with her next release by looking even more outward.
