- To be honest, 02 clicked immediately with me. Maybe the mixing is too fast as the list counts 21 tracks, but thats the only minus point, really. It got the special atmosphere of the opening set and that's interesting by itself, as anyone mixing Panorama bar mixes has always been trying to capture the "wildest moments of the night" or "that moment when they open the sunblinds and the sun light strike the dancefloor" - Tama Sumo is not the case. First half is mellow selection of pretty fine deep house during which you can even imagine the empty floor slowly filling with first party goers and the rest of the mix kinda gets you ready for the whole night (and day) to come. There's no bangers, sure, and I get that that's why it won't be the most popular mix for everyone, but I love it and I guess it really captures something out of the place. And that's the point of those mixes.
- Edited 11 years agoI'm admittedly more into the Berghain series, but I'm fine with house music and I had high hopes for this Panorama Bar release. The track selection is rather odd, as there's borderline dub techno (Mike Huckaby) mixed with really upbeat deep house (Murat Tepeli or Ost & Kjex) and then your basic house record (Shed's Stiff Job). Inconsistent in style, the music is thrown together seemingly at random. There isn't much method to the mix. If Kerstin just pulled out twenty house records at random and put them together into a mix, it would sound something like this. Some people will be satisfied with this, but I expect a bit more. Now don't get me wrong, the tracks are individually very good and on that merit alone this compilation gets its rating.
