This first pressing is known for containing the "rougher" original version of track B4 "Clear".
On second pressing variations and subsequent reissues, it was replaced with a Jose Animal Diaz remixed version of the track.
It can be identified from subsequent versions by the differences in runout etchings. Mainly by the additional etchings found on side B of those editions.
Some copies were stamped on the sleeve "Demonstration Not For Sale".
Recorded at Solid Sound, Ann Arbor, except 'Cosmic Cars' and 'The Line' which were recorded at Pearl Sound, Ann Arbor, and 'Alleys Of Your Mind' which was recorded at Randy Howe's Parents' House.
The sleeve credits Juan Atkins as the writer on tracks where he was involved whereas the center labels credit him as both Juan Atkins and Atkins.

Scoured through my loft the other day, and found a long forgotten, shrinkwrapped copy of this album. Now, I don't really have the heart to unwrap it to find out if it's a cricket or Diaz version. No way to tell from the cover is there...?
I still have the original copy I bought back in the early 80's... The version of clear people are looking for was never on the original album. It was on the 12inch single with industrial lies on the opposite side. I always liked the album version better myself over the 12inch version. The album was so hard to get back then, most got the 12 inch and was happy. And R-9 was never on the original album either. It also was a 12 inch single... When they started making the cd versions and downloads became available later on, they added R-9 to the album, the 12 inch version of clear, the house version of cosmic cars... But that wasn't the original lineup...
R-9 isn't here?
The thing I find most amazing about this album is the release year 1983 !!!!! Amazing, never got into Detroit until early 90's.
the cassette version had crickets before the countoff.....
there is actually a ultra rare version of this song "clear"....it was on a cassette version of this album....a friend of mine had it back in the 80's.....real talk!!

It should be noted that some 1983 pressings contain the 12" version of "Clear" (The Jose Animal Diaz Remix) while others contain the original version.
