Reviews
- Absolutely impeccable drum programming on "The Razor's Edge". The way the two breaks blend together, the atmospheric pads and of course, the awesomely simple bassline make this track pure jungle perfection!
- Truly excellent piece of music - this is the definition of deep jungle. The programming, samples and production are just class.
First heard this on the Bukem Dreamscape 11. I think someone nearly knocks the decks over at the start of the tune.
At first I couldn't work out where this tune finished and Heavyweight Vol 2 started and thought they were one tune for a while - it was a few years later that I picked them up separately and realised how well they fitted together.
Wonder where these producers went? - Edited 15 years agoI love Razors Edge because it does the whole jungle thing perfectly. You've got the classic NT Kool & The Gang break slamming along combined with the low end Ultra Mag's break and they combine beautifully. The bass, pads, trinkets, baubles and drones are well thought out and I believe that the vox sample is an ingeniously edited lift from Gary Busey in Predator 2. This was the kind of tune that drove producers on to make better and better music and create a benchmark on which drum & bass could be sensibly judged.
