Reviews
- Great pressing overall. Side A and B sound phenomenal. I purchased mine used and unfortunately my side D has a manufacturing defect that effects side C and D. Slightly warped and some scratching on the rim. Will try to clean more thoroughly to see if that helps. I also don't have a clamp yet, hoping once I purchase one it might clean up the sound there a bit. No skipping, but good amount of surface noise on D side with some on C. If that doesn't clear it up I'll still be able to enjoy the album, but I'll keep an eye out for this pressing again. Can't emphasize enough on how good A and B sound.
- This is a great pressing from Blackened! They really filled the soundstage perfectly, and as another commenter mentioned, you really notice Jason's playing. Not a pop or scratch out of the sleeve. Heavy, full, rich sound. Clear and clean vocal tracks. Really punchy bass kicks from Lars. It's all there in this quality pressing!
- My first album to start my collection off and I couldn’t have picked a better pressing on the first try. Media sounds great, no surface noise.
- Best pressing I’ve heard of this album. Sounds absolutely crushing. You can really hear Jason’s bass.
- Edited 9 months agoGot this in January 2022, just played through again and compared to my 2014 copy and I really can't tell much difference. Perhaps it's just my mind, but on some tracks I feel the 2014 has a better sound, and on others I feel the 2021 sounds better to me. What may be the minor difference is that this one MAYBE has a bit more 'atmosphere' and 'air' compared to 2014. I'm assuming Ludwig/Cohen remastering had some nuances compared to the 2014 cut. Both lacquers cut by Chris Bellman, however previous comments point out that this version uses a little less lacquer and has more deadwax, but to me I don't detect a real sound quality loss in this 2021.
At any rate, both of these are awesome pressings of an awesome album. - This pressing has it's moments of great sound, but overall 4/5. Low end is fine, but not too powerful. It doesn't give you that Lars kick punch like you're accustom to. There is some surface noise on quieter sections like Unforgiven and Nothing Else Matters. Not too much vocal distortion, but there is a bit in Nothing Else Matters. Overall, it's worth the $25 to keep in the bin if you don't have a better pressing.
- Sound is more detailed but no power, no pressure, empty music, very poor bass. Sounds very bad, non-remastered version sounds much better, "juicy'.
- Most of the songs sound great but "nothing else matters" has bad distortion in the vocals. I wouldn't complain if I didn't have the 2014 remaster to compare it to (witch sounds better in my opinion).
- Mine sounds louder in left chanel than the right one, even after a cleaning and an anti-skating adjustment. Until today, all my vinyls sound balance in both channels. Anyone with this issue?
