Reviews
- Great sounding record and a Chris Bellman cut. Can’t go wrong with this one. They must have made a ton because I’m surprised you can still find this one for a reasonable price.
- This sounds great, a lot of the Metallica reissues have serious issues with sound and mix but that is not present here. Dynamic and full
- After listening to jazz fusion, funk and blues rock for a long time, I was craving some classic metal. I went to the record shop and found this for $30 CAD.
I have never spent my money so well on a new record than this purchase. Pressed at Pallas, flawless discs. No noise, flat and they came in poly-lined paper inner sleeves.
Artwork reproduction is 100/100. No pixilated images or poor print quality of liner notes.
Sound is amazing! It’s exceptionally well balanced in terms of EQ. 90s music usually has this scooped mid sound (smiley face EQ), but this remaster is not one of them.
Dynamic range is high. I cannot imagine the original pressing sounding significantly better. I am hearing details I have never heard before in the compressed streaming version. Also for the first time the bass in this album sounds sublime. Very well defined low end for a metal record.
Stereo separation is 100/100. The soundstage is wide and I never knew this record could sound this wide.
Compared to this record and quality of presentation, some modern reissues genuinely seem like a pure cash grab.
Highly recommend it! - Received this morning, seller had it under Walmart Pallas GMBH version, but she is all black 180g and Pallas Germany press. Seriously mind blown at the cut and mastering, even through my bottles it kicks you in the guts with percussion, no sibilance on any of the 4 sides, transparent vocals, kick tom snare and hats and guitar reproduction is amazing. Easily one of the most powerful discs i have in my collection, no regrets not getting marbles, the pressing is simply fantastic even on bottles. Just get a copy!! and forget the OG cut.
- Ummm WOW I used to own this cd in college played the crap out of it. Just bought this vinyl last week, Metallica never sounded sooo good. the bass drums holy craping thumping. Crank Enter Sandman and you'll think your at the VA Tech football game LOL This is so effin great.
- In comparison to the other reissues this sounds the best, this has fantastic sounds
And there’s bass - Just compared this to the high-res streaming version. The high res sounds amazing, and this pressing somehow sounds even better. Incredible low end kick and clarity. No need to pay $600 for an OG.
- Incredibly good pressing. Side C and D had a bit of surface noise but nothing a good clean couldn't fix.
Packaging could be better. It's always a bit disappointing when a double album doesn't have a gatefold sleeve, but with crisp and punchy mastering and pressing, nothing else matters. - Great pressing overall. Side A and B sound phenomenal. I purchased mine used and unfortunately my side D has a manufacturing defect that effects side C and D. Slightly warped and some scratching on the rim. Will try to clean more thoroughly to see if that helps. I also don't have a clamp yet, hoping once I purchase one it might clean up the sound there a bit. No skipping, but good amount of surface noise on D side with some on C. If that doesn't clear it up I'll still be able to enjoy the album, but I'll keep an eye out for this pressing again. Can't emphasize enough on how good A and B sound.
