This review applies to all four of the recently (2021) produced Van der Graaf Generator 2CD + DVD-A sets:
    UMC / Charisma – 089 608-6 / 00602508960864 'Pawn Hearts'
    UMC / Charisma -- 089 610-9 / 00602508961090 'Still Life'
    UMC / Charisma -- 089 607-2 / 00602508960727 'H To He Who Am The Only One'
    UMC / Charisma -- 089 609-8 / 00602508960987 'Godbluff'

I have all of these and in terms of sound quality these are wonderful editions -- meant to be enjoyed
over and over again. But their packaging is insane and defying any sense and logic!
I complained about this using UMC contact email some time ago, but, of course, got no reply.
I think it is a good idea to give the UMC CEO a bunch of these editions and let him/her try wiggling
CDs in and out these HORRIBLE cardboard sleeves. Two things happen when you do this:
your CDs get damaged and/or cardboard sleeves get ripped. And, yes, despite all my care, that
happened to me on a second attempt to get a CD out.

I can't help but wonder if it UMCs intent for these products to actually NEVER be used?
This ridiculous packaging DOES NOT BELONG on such excellent and not inexpensive
CD sets that are supposed to be treasured for years to come and appreciate in value.
This is clearly an inferior product and a very poor marketing strategy that will get customers VERY upset (as am I).

Based on my experience with the sets packaging and a TOTAL lack of support from UMC in resolving
(or even acknowledging) the issue, I cannot recommend these products. That is, unless you simply
want to put them on the shelf and NEVER use them. Alternatively, if you decide to bite the bullet and
buy into these sets, I strongly recommend the following: wiggle all the CDs/DVDs you plan to use out
of their sleeve pockets, take out the booklet and put them all into SEPARATE jewel cases for CDs.
Use these cases instead, leave the original cardboard sleeve package on the shelf but never touch it.
That is what I am doing now and it surely does not help with optimizing shelf space.

Again, it defies any logic why such a horrible packaging solution was chosen over a standard digipak
(as much as I hate these things) option with easily accessible CD/DVD mounting points.
