Reviews
- Edited 6 months agoLikably quirky album! The wind sections remind me of those on the first LP of german group Faust from 1971. More courage to REALLY experiment on ALL tracks (instead only at "The Anecdote of Horatio and Juliet" from side A) would have made this album a masterpiece!
- Unique avant garde psychedelic classic, full of surprises. Astonishing, often poignant and brilliant !
- An absolute masterpiece of psych rock. Anybody looking for something to give them a wondrously nightmare esque experience should pick this up.
- A little-known classic of weird American psychedelia. We've no idea who David Stoughton was, or how such a record slipped-out on a major label. TRANSFORMER (Elektra EKS 74034) does exactly what it says, each track is a music transformed into a new surprising form, and each LP side transforms into weirdness. The feel is somewhat like United States Of America and Fifty Foot Hose, although the electronics are mostly integral, processing, collage, etc., and great use of special effects. Really, it's hard to believe that it dates from 1968!
