Reviews
- Absolutely love this album. Have heard a copy on my a friend’s system and was
Impressed by the reviews here. However my copy is relatively quiet. I have to turn my Rega integrated up at least 2 steps higher than normal to get a good volume. Also the levels are all over place. Maybe that’s just vinyl mastering compared the digital? Thoughts? - This is the first vinyl record I have ever bought without hearing a single track, over radio/streaming, or reading any critical review. As a big fan of Low since 2005 or so, I was going to buy it at some point... so it was pretty great to just spin the LP for a first listen. One and Sixes was a big departure from their sound, and seemed to miss more than hit. Double Negative was much tighter in every way and showed some of the improvement on the sound that Low /// S. Carey hinted towards. This release is just brilliant, even on the first listen I was transported back to Things We Lost In the Fire and almost moved to tears by side 2. Gorgeous harmonies in a wash of captivating noise. Expect to see on many album of the year lists. Nice pressing, low surface noise, sound is good and adds to the experience
- Sounds amazing, maybe the album of the year. Mine doesn't have the locked groove though, is it just me or my (admittedly low end) AT-LP60XBT turntable?
- Edited 3 years agoFantastic pressing. I’m hearing way more detail than I did before. I miss some of the noise and ambient interludes, which I feel add a lot to this record. But I get why they had to cut them. AOTY, 2021.
- Edited 3 years agoSounds overall very good. Unforunately, as with almost all gatefold, shrinkwrapped, 1x LP releases, this came with a significant dish warp. It does not impact play, however.
- Wow this really does sound pretty great. Maybe it's just listening to it on my home theater speakers for the first time but I swear some songs sound like they have slightly different mixes (the sudden rush of distortion and bass in the 2nd half of disappearing in particular sounds way heavier and louder than I remember from my first couple listens)
- This has just become one of my reference pressings. Actually more than that: One of those I’ll use to test my system. Incredible pressing, and it helps that the music is REALLY good too.
