Like a clash of big city techno titans, this EP brings together the talents of Chicago based Tim Xavier and New York City’s Dylan Drazen. While both Dylan and Tim are known for their punishing techno productions (and DJ sets), it is the hypnotic, understated side of their personalities being explored here. “Heavy Flow” is a smooth, slow builder that integrates lush keys and trippy stabs in a mesmerizing effort. On the flip, “The Benz” starts off innocently enough, with a simple, affecting rhythm track and sumptuous synths. But as layer after layer of subtle percussion are combined with rhythmic, almost jackin’ vocals, the track is transformed into a disgustingly funky slab of dancefloor destruction.
