- Edited 19 years agoAlthough I love the simplicity of 'Work That Muthafucka', my track of choice on this EP is 'Computer Madness', as it shows how massive a Filtered Synth line can sound, fed through a reverb effect - simple, but POWERFUL!!
- Edited 19 years agoBack in 1994 I was able to order this "Beyond Ultra Rare" (per Under One Sky 'zine description) record from Gramaphone Records in Chicago!
I got it in the mail and - you guessed it - it sounded like (literally) someone had taken sandpaper and rubbed both sides for a few minutes. Completely unplayable. But at any rate, this was a classic track, one that I used to play out at every college house party back then. "Computer Madness" is a very nice spooky acidic techno track - great for long segueways - "Born to Freak" is a nice little 303 number. - Work That Mutha Fucker - The prototype ghetto track has long been a favorite amongst the underground track-heads. Too count the remixes, bootlegs, remakes and mash-ups would be impossible. 15 years later, this track captures the pure essence of minimal track work. A simplistic 4/4 Casio RZ-1, all by itself with a repetitive vocal sample...play this and presto...instant party.
- Work That Mutha Fucker was made using just a Casio RZ-1 drum machine! As well as providing all the drum sounds on the track it had a little sampler built in with only a 1.6s memory. Just enough time to say...
Again, originals red, represses black. Fantastic EP, every track a winner. - "Work That Mutha Fucker" had the hardest bassline until 1989. After The Fall of Chicago House one of rare successful releases in techno-house aera from the "Windy City". Also "Computer Madness" was a very progressively experimental acid production which is an influence to build innovative labels like "Warp Records". These tracks are now immortal and they will be it in the future too.
