An entirely new direction on REBIRTH for Osunlade, as “All My Tears” starts with… a downtempo rock ballad? Luckily, “Butterfly” returns to his jazz leanings, while “Compatible” and “Glide” have a mellow electro groove. Throughout the album, he relies much more heavily on his own vocals, which are mostly serviceable, if unremarkable, which makes tracks which rely on them, like the R&B-tinged “Paint Me a Picture,” “Willin’, and “Umakemesmile” sound rather wan. Thankfully, there’s enough on the clipped “Break It Down” or in the Naked Music-style house of “The Dating Game” to keep the listener’s interest. He even tries his hand at sensitive singer-songwriter folk on “Complacent” and “Nothing More” or bossa-nova on “The Fiction (Gareth's Song).” An interesting shift, but not entirely successful.

All the negative notes on this Album just confirm the fact that to many people just don t continue to develop. it s not even the work of an mature artist but an real artist. Osunlades work is not the reaction of his DJ Gigs but more of his Sense for music...

really disappointed by this album. a kind of r'n'b sound from 90's & lounge, I find that very kitsch : (

Osunlade's latest is one for the chill evenings at home and not for the clubs. A low key affair that warrants repeated listening. It's the work of a mature artist, Very enjoyable.
