Show All 33 Reviews- I got extremely lucky with the color of this one. My copy is a baby pink, almost the same color of the inner sleeve. It matches perfectly. About the sound quality, I also got really surprised on how good this record sounds. Clear, powerful and awesome sound. Coloratura, Let Somebody Go and My Universe sound much better than any streaming service out there. The other songs, are pratically the same NGL
- Edited 7 months agoThis is an excellent pressing. The instrumentation sounds a lot more "live" than on digital reproductions of the same recordings. Separation is terrific, and it has excellent clarity. It seems really well mastered. The bass is a lot more prominent on this than other versions. And there are lots of elements and nuances that are more noticeable on this pressing. My copy is really quiet - near silent in fact - which really helps the sound quality come through. Whilst not being my favourite Coldplay album (there's a bit too much filler and interlude, and it lacks substance) there are some terrific tracks. "Human Heart" is phenomenal in its simplicity, and "People of the Pride" thumps around wonderfully. "Coloratura" is an absolute Tour de Force, and one of the best things Coldplay have ever done. It is a masterpiece, and a marvellous crescendo to the album.
As a long-standing fan (I first heard them on Steve Lamacq in 1999 and have been hooked ever since!) I'm not entirely convinced by Coldplay's trajectory towards EDM or all pop music, but there are moments of brilliance on here that demonstrate why Coldplay continue to be the biggest band on the planet - and why they can still draw in people like me. - If anyone has a copy that looks like the mockup on their web store, or at least is blue ffs... please message, me, I really don't enjoy it when the pressing is random... I'd really like a record that doesn't look like vomit...
- Edited 9 months agoI'm sure some of us who've bought their records since the early days are now too old for all this coded/emoji/cryptic "sucking up to the kids" rubbish. Pretty sure the band are (too old)? Please name tunes with actual words not colours, codes or whatever.
=================
My aging eyes suggest I have a variant 1 but with a solid inner sleeve. - Absolutely cracking sounding vinyl, Coldplay have always sounded far superior in analogue and this is no different.
- Edited one year agoMy copy sounds very nice, no snap, crackle or pop here. I gave my copy a good clean before playing it since I saw all these comments saying how noisy it was. Great mastering too. I personally am a fan of this album, however it's definitely not their best.
As for the sleeve and its other contents, I wish it was a gatefold, but that's not too big of a deal. My booklet came a bit mangled on the back as well though.
One thing I will say is that I got totally awful luck of the draw on the whole "recycled vinyl" thing, I've seen other people get really nice colours, but mine is a quite dull grey colour, with nothing else much on it, so if you're big into the coloured vinyl, then watch out for that, however, it's not that big of a deal to me. - First copy was snap, crackle, pop on both sounds. Returned and got another that is very quiet on side B but noisier in the middle quiet sections of side A but as I play it more sounds better. I think the problem might be in the glitter specks of the recycling. Maybe I'm getting used to the noise or the needle is clearing a better path but after a few plays it's not as obvious.
- My first copy of this sounded awful. Pops and crackles everywhere, even after a good cleaning. So I ordered a replacement and this one is dead silent. Also ended up with a much cooler color the second time around.
- record sounds great and colours on mine are gorg. being a recycled pressing has no affect 🤷♂️ sounds great. packaging is really high quality and i really like it, just wish it was a gatefold tbh
