A very nice Echo release, from the early '80s. If you must only own one of their albums, this could be the one. I'm a huge fan of early Icicle Works, and there are little remnants of their sound in this band, or vice versa.

Highlights are "Killing Moon", "Crystal Days", and "Silver".

Super clean mix with great definition and high frequency response is crisp.

Unfortunately, it is lacking bass. I run a sub and there's very little sub 100Hz information going to the speaker.

Otherwise, a really nice clean pressing.

Don't own an original press but have heard one, this sounds very much like it to my ears, good detail, worth getting

Mine has the sticker of Porcupine on the vinyl but the record itself is Ocean Rain. The sound is very nice considering that I have an original pressing from Heaven Up Here and I don't feel too much different between the two.

Couldn't disagree more with those saying this sounds thin. My blue and black vinyl copies of Ocean Rain sound just as crystal clear and powerful as my original 1984 Sire LP. Perhaps there are some inconsistencies with the pressing (quality control)? For all four reissues, all of them sound fantastic, comparable to my OGs, except the white vinyl reissue of Porcupine. That sounds muted, however, not thin.

I HAVE TO AGREE WITH MOST EVERYONE HERE ITS NOT HORRIBLE BUT ITS A LITTLE THIN AND A LOT OF SIBILANCE ON SIDE 2 AND I HAVE THIS COPY ALSO - Ocean Rain ‎(LP, Album, RE) 1972 if05 US 2011- TO COMPARE WITH ITS DONE BY 1972 AND ITS ALOT THICKER AND LOUDER PRESS AND LOUDER IN A GOOD WAY. HOWEVER I WANT A FIRST PRESSING NOW BUT IF I HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN THE TWO PRESSINGS I OWN NOW ITS DEFINITELY THE 2011 PRESSING BY 1972

This sounds good on my setup no complaints apart from a couple of hisses on side 2

I share the view that this comes across as somewhat 'thin'. There is almost no low end punch or bass to it. I don't have the original to hand to compare it with but my fond recollections of EATB were that they had a bass player... The pressing is otherwise clean and noiseless.

The album is clean and quiet. If not compared to the original release, it will probably sound excellent. Compared to the original release it sounds slightly thin. It misses a little warmth and low end richness. This copy sounds excellent otherwise — just different than the original release (and maybe not quite as good.). I still enjoyed it.

Great reissue. I don't understand anyone saying this sounds thin. To me it sounds just fine and well worth the money. Bought this and Porcupine... both are good. Going to get the other two now.
