- Edited 10 years agoSurprised I am the first to comment on this one...10 years after becoming a Discogs member and almost 18 years after release...inherited this guy from a buddy who quit DJing in '98...played it on my radio show as a promo in early '96...this record has a long history with me!
It is a smoky, blunted up, infectiously groovy house record...very much in the tradition of Guidance, Balance and some Detroit house sounds. All the tracks are very atmospheric and well structured at the same time, so super easy to mix at many points...it's a DJ's dream. I have no problem playing all of these tracks start to finish. I own two copies, one worn to hell and another ready for 15+ more years of playing!
Disco Midgets: super funky, sunny and laid back track that will rock the dance floor with a deep groovy bass line and put a smile on everyone's face with upbeat strings and jazzy keys....
Do for me: heavy samples Go Bang, drums from Salsoul Orchestra (sounds like "Love Break") and vocal samples from Labelle's What Can I Do For You?...Theo Parrish before Theo Parrish
O Sometimes: very distinctive distorted female vocal sample with creative use of disco guitar sample... spacey and infectious
One of Cajual's best, IMO, and one of my favorite house records without a doubt.
