I really don't get all the beef with the sound quality of the Seu Jorge tracks. They were recorded live, outside, just as you hear them in the movie, and they really are not that bad. At all. It would have been awkward and far less appealing to hear studio versions of his Bowie covers, imo. The ones on the soundtrack are true to the film.

Just opened my copy a month into its purchase. Luckily not warped (and I have bad luck in this regard). Not self-conscious about the sound except for the tunes of Seu Jorge, appealing as they are, are truly lo-fi. Still they are so charming I would have liked if they had included the other six Bowie Portuguese covers. Especially since I own much of the rest of the material (bowie, iggy pop, zombies) I’d have gladly traded it in for what made the film most memorable in the first place (Jorge). I see there is an unofficial recording of all of them and then some but they are expensive in the third seller market and if this sound was rough hewn here to begin with, I shudder at how it could sound like. Hopefully an official recording will see the sound of day. Having said that, the album’s finest moments are without a doubt the tracks featuring the score of Sven Libaek.

Got a copy that was warped as shit. Returned it for a new one that was just as warped. This record ruined Christmas.

Sounds great. Didn’t clean it first and no issues out of the sleeve.

Lots of surface noise on the Seu Jorge tracks, which doesn't help the quality of the sound due to it being live (as the liner notes suggest).
If you're buying this album specifically for those, I would suggest the Seu Jorge Life Aquatic Sessions album instead that was recorded in a studio.
Still, a beautiful album!

Man. Excellent sound! Flat. Quiet. Definitely dirty. But after a quick cleaning, very happy with this purchase. Solid all around.

Seems like there were a lot of quality control issues with this one. Mine has mismatched labels on side 1 and side 2 of disc 2. However, the playback of the actual songs is fine. Not enough of a quirk to warrant a return, but still annoying. As for the comment someone else made about the sound quality of the Seu Jorge selections, I agree that the fidelity is not great. However, Anderson's sleeve notes suggest that the recordings were done on location, often outside and on set, probably with just one mic. They almost have a field recording quality, which gives them character and adds to the verisimilitude. They sound different than the versions on the Seu Jorge Life Aquatic album. It seems to me that the whole singing Bowie in Portuguese thing was a last-minute impromptu thing done more as a lark, but the songs were so well received that they decided to do an album of them, this time actually recorded in a studio.

Sound is about what was expected; slightly better than CD version. Very happy that surface noise is a non-issue. Would've appreciated some film ephemera after all this time without a vinyl release.

My LP 1 is slightly warped, but the pressing sounds great.
