Show All 29 Reviews- Really doesn't get better than this. Fabulous recording all around. Lowell George at the height of his vocal prowess and Richie Hayward demonstrating why he was one of the best rock and roll drummers of all time.
- Incredible! After loving the original boot for decades, I got one of the grey-market downloads. It was a huge leap forward in sound and much more complete. Then this version was touted for RSD 2021, but failed to arrive here in the UK. However, june 2022 promised a UK release. My bricks n mortar ordered it for me. Tense wait. At last it arrived!
My goodness what a release! Flat heavy and silent. The recording is incredible. It is a very different experience compared with the earlier releases. For a start you are made very aware of the studio/live situation; talkback engineer voices interrupt the start, and re-takes are requested for a couple of tracks. But that all adds to the whole package. This is among my favourite releases from the last twenty years; I place it along side the Beatles in Mono vinyl box from 2014 as an archive classic. - Sadly, I ordered two copies and both were extremely warped. Hopefully the replacement copies are in better condition.
- Edited 6 months agoExtremely stupid or what can you expect from record companies? This was pressed in Germany (where I happen to live) and then all specimens got clandestinely exported to the US? That legitimate releases are available only on selected markets will keep people dealing with bootleg records; annoyingly daft. UPDATE: It has become available for a modest price in Europe — AND IT IS WELL WORTH EVERY SINGLE COIN OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. PERIOD!
- Many years ago my brother gave me the original bootleg that had been circulating on a burnt CD and I`ve been enjoying it ever since ! When I saw that it was being offered this fall at Record Store Day, I knew I Had To Have It !!! Feat was my main band for many years, especially after getting to see the 2nd incarnation of the band with Lowell still alive and Larger Than Life on stage. When I opened up this Gate Fold cover, I saw in large letters " If You Bought This Set, You Know What You Have" No Shit ! That is as far as anybody who opened what they bought ! I`ll bet more than half of the pressings were originally sold to profiteers looking to make the big bucks from guys like me who Love Feat, but live nowhere close to a Record Store Day store. I luckily made a trip to the city to see Hot Tuna and found one still not originally purchased for $35. Good luck getting one close to that now ! It`s right up there with "Waiting For Columbus", although WFC has a bigger selection of great songs as more were written and recorded in the 3 years between the recording of them. Also WFC has taken the best takes over multiple shows and the package I just bought was one continual flow of a day`s performance. I really miss Lowell, Richie, and Paul !!!
- I almost missed this on my radar. Thankfully I didn't and being 4th in line didn't hurt either. Because the store I went to only had 2 copies. I grabbed one and snaked thru the line. Came back round and the other one was already gone.
Intimate soundstage makes this a must have and is a good counter balance to Waiting For Columbus. This one will keep going up in price, much like Phish Billy Breathes. So get one now! - Echoing what others have said, this is a fantastic release all-around. Sound quality is excellent, as are the packaging and the performances themselves. This is peak Little Feat. More people need to hear this!
- This blew me away. It’s a fantastic and worthy companion sonically and musically(!) to waiting for columbus, which is the highest praise I can give a live album. While WFC brings the huge arena-rock sound, this release is a more intimate journey into jam-blues perfection. It’s more sparse on the arrangements and the sound is just perfectly mixed (single exception is slightly bloated floor tom in Spanish Moon but even that is still absolutely killer). I seriously can’t believe this is the first release of this! Lowell George’s variation in vocal tone and his unparalleled melodic vocal breaks are on full display. The instrumentation is impeccable.
- Excellent music, well recorded for in studio live performance, and vinyl is quiet. An incredible sounding album, very much a audiophile record. Must have!
- This sounds super good, the bass really fills, and all around quality of sound. Considering this was a bootleg before, really glad they were able to get this out and really do this show justice. Just wow
