- Donnie's cd cover alone will make you want to buy it and hear the title! If you're a fan of Donnie Hathaway and Stevie Wonder, that's who you'll think of when you hear Donnie's voice. Try to listen to this cd for the first time around without the aid of the lyric sheet and you might get lost but once you read them the words are hard to forget and you'll be singing along the second time around. I've never heard anyone run words into melodies like this brother and I love it. Donnie's message is political, especailly on "Black Buck." But he doesn't leave out messages of love and romance in the tunes "Rocket Ship" and "Turn Around" which has a great groove. The title cut "Welcome to the Colored Section" is seriously beautiful.
I'm definately on the look out for more of Donnie.
