Reviews
- Although marketed as exclusive club mixes, the first two records are just the LP versions, one per side, cut nice and loud to maximize SNR. At the time, this would have been desirable for club DJs.
It is the third record which is unique, containing some otherwise unavailable Shep Pettibone remixes of "Always On My Mind" and "Left to My Own Devices". Ordinarily in this era, he was very consistently in top form, but between this and the Underworld "Underneath the Radar" remixes, he managed to sneak in a couple of duds. It's no surprise the record company chose not to release these mixes commercially. The Device Mix is a dub mix and would work in a club, hence it was bootlegged, but the others are just...meh. And his additional production on "Always On My Mind" is jarringly out of tune with the vocal. What was he thinking?
Also, the Base Mix of "Domino Dancing" wasn't available on a US release, so it is semi-exclusive. It is weirdly EQ'd everywhere it appears, including here. I guess you are supposed to crank up the bass as needed. Base means No Bass? I don't know.
