Geesh, this blows! You've got jackasses like Eddie Vedder and Sinead O'Connor trying to pay tribute to Bob Dylan by butchering some of his best songs. Even the real artists like Tom Petty, Neil Young and George Harrison fail to deliver the goods. Stevie Wonder's "Blowin' in the Wind" is embarrassing. Ron Wood's "Seven Days" is like nails on a chalkboard. The O'Jays murder "Emotionally Yours" with a rusty blade. Roger McGuinn is in zombie-like mode for his yawn-inspired performance of "Mr. Tambourine Man". Lou Reed sounds like he's passing a kidney stone on "Foot of Pride". And when "everyone" gets together at the end, they perform the WORST version of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" ever sung by any human being in any language.

This is a two-disc set, so you'd think the odds would be in favor of there being some good tracks, which there are. Tracy Chapman, Willie Nelson and The Clancy Brothers all do decent renditions of "The Times They Are A-Changin'", "What Was It You Wanted" and "When the Ship Comes In" respectively. Mary Chapin Carpenter, Rosanne Cash and Shawn Colvin are obviously enjoying themselves on "You Ain't Going Nowhere". Bob Dylan's fiery performance of "It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" is nothing special but it is worthwhile. "My Back Pages" is fun to listen to just to figure out who sings which verse (I only wish Keith Richards was there). But the absolute highlight of it all is Richie Havens' "Just Like a Woman". So there's one good song for every three bad ones in this poop-fest.

Unless you're a completist, avoid this CD.
