- This may be my most favourite Eels album since 2009’s “Hombre Lobo” which got me into his music in the first place. Mark Everett or ‘E’ has put out several great albums since but this one seems to jump out at me a bit more than the others have. 12 wonderful songs that run the gamut of “Lo-Fi Hobo” stylings and influences yet all fit together perfectly as an album. If you like Beck you will most definitely love the work of the Eels. Originally, I picked up the deluxe box set that includes the album cut at 45rpm over 2 yellow slabs o’ vinyl, the CD, cool artwork and a paper Ouija board but I was curious to how the simple single black slab edition would sound. Actually, I think I prefer the single black vinyl edition better just for the sake that you only have to flip it once and not break up the overall listening experience. This single 33.3rpm version sounds just as good as the 45rpm version and in addition it comes with an inner sleeve with lyrics and a download code and cool framable print. “Extreme Witchcraft” would definitely be in my top 5 releases of 2022 so far!
- So there's no yellow version of the single-disc-version? I think this is E's best work in a very long time, but I don't want this short album smeared out over two discs.
