- Why was this released when, "Shades Of Purple 1968-1998" was released three years before in 1999? Also why did this go out of print? Was it withdrawn? If so, why?
- A fantastic box set that throughly records the entire history of Deep Purple. Lavishly packaged as well with an excellent book.
- Musically this isn't a must for fans who got all the albums already as it doesn't seem Deep Purple put out too many outtakes over the years of comepletely new stuff. There are some fantastic live versions tho, like a 30 minute version of "Mandrake Root", which was previously unreleased and also the "Pre Purple" songs on the first discs are very good and interesting for example.
What's the greatest thing about this box set is the packaging and booklet with an extensive biography with tons of photographs, tickets etc., very good layout. It's just superb.
