Edited one year agoNever got into the early Dimmu Borgir albums despite trying (not that I'd like the "newer" Nightwish-style garbage ones either). The keyboards play creative stuff, especially the plagiarized parts (heheh) and their sound is cool. The bass is quite nicely mixed in the whole. The guitars have a personal soft sound, quite good. There are a lot of nice melodies and riffs, but the whole is just too lukewarm and mild for me. Not bad but not that good either. I'll stick to Enthrone Darkness Triumphant.
Wasn't Cacophonous supposed to due a remastered pressing of the 1996 version a few years ago, with new artwork? Bravewords posted a story in 2016 saying it was delayed, and then we never heard anything further. Anyone have some inside knowledge of the situation?
Lyrics in norwegian without english translations? Can't help it, but brings Monty Python to my mind :))
Edited 4 years agoTHE ONLY worth-investment releases of this truly EPIC Masterpiece are CACOPHONOUS records CD prints. All other CD re-releases are scanned/photocopied junk pieces.
