Show All 14 Reviews- I did feel like my copy was also a bit disappointing. For such a dynamic album overall, this landed quite flat.
- I’m rarely disappointed enough to comment, but this is one of the least dynamic pressings I own. Dull, lifeless, and distant, even after cranking it. Like an old lady’s quilt is draped over the speaker. That’s even after I used a knife to scrape off the paper embedded in the run-in. I was really looking forward to this after seeing it was repressed in Canada. My opinion of course, but stay away. Just stick with the CD.
- Edited 2 months agoI just bought the repress that was made in Canada. It doesn't have the various surface-noise issues that others have reported about the original pressing. There was a touch of noise at the beginning of each side, but then it was pretty quiet the rest of the way. (That's after vacuum cleaning before playing.) Even though surface noise isn't a problem, I think the mastering is mediocre. It's mixed very quiet--I literally turned my speakers all the way up and still wasn't satisfied--and isn't especially dynamic. I hope we eventually get a remix that does this work of genius the justice it deserves, but if you absolutely need to own this on wax, this reissue will likely suffice until that hoped-for version materializes.
- This has been repressed in Canada using the old metal parts from this Rainbo pressing/cut. There are no identifiers on the sleeve, labels, or runouts that point to exactly where, but the pressing rings are different and point to Precision. My copy's surfaces were noticeably free of non-fill which itself is a marked improvement over the 2009 Rainbo pressing.
- I bought it and returned it awhile ago because it sounded so poor and for such a dynamic recording was no good and the dealer said it was a well known issue. i wish they'd repress it.
- Just got a copy via amazon. No scuffs on record, no off-center sides, no warps. Sounds decent enough, worth the $16 I paid for it. That's it. I guess I got lucky after reading all these comments?
- Edited 3 years agoThis is a comically bad pressing. Both sides look like an abused record pressed 25 years ago. Completely hazy throughout, patches of microscratch areas all over, side A has a HUGE vertical scratch that causes an audible tick throughout half of "When I Grow Up," the list goes on. Fortunately mine isn't warped like others, but it might as well be.
Fortunately the music is fantastic so it almost makes up for it, but I'm definitely looking forward to a reissue that is (hopefully) better quality. - My copy is not pressed off-center. It does have an edge warp that is most noticeable on Side A. Surface noise is common on both sides. The paper sleeve the LP came in scuffed the hell out of the disc.
