Very lo-fi recording. Great music of course, but don't expect this to sound like the AP Prestige Hopkin's albums.- Excellent pressing and great sound. Track 1 source seems a bit rough but everything is beautiful after that.
- Sounds great despite a minor dish warp. My vinyl flattener will fix that though.
- Mastering on this is beautiful. Deep rich sound. Great album too, I had never heard it before this release. My pressing is great. Guess I got lucky.
I'm done with VMP. I'm never pleased with their releases. They need to do QC and show some care with overall presentation. Disappointed.
My copy is perfect in every way and sounds amazing. Definitely a keeper- Mine has a fairly deep warp, around 7mm at its apex. Replacement requested from VMP.
Edited one year agoA minor dish warp on my copy. Fortunately it plays and sounds fine, but definitely there's a noticeable dip in the overall quality on offer here vs previous VMP Classics releases. As expected the switch to GZ Vinyl is not without issues. Such a shame as VMP Classics have offered some of the best vinyl releases in recent memory.
Great reissue, mastering and pressing is excellent. This worth having for any blues music fan, especially Lightnin’ Hopkins fan.
A big ole Chicago deep dish warp on mine copy. Sent VMP a video today and they turned it around in 6 hours. Another copy is now in the mail. We'll see. They should slip the book of notes between the plastic sleeve and cover to avoid this kind of thing.
