"Sonancy" has a different sound from Loop's earlier work, particularly A Gilded Eternity. The guitars here are drier, almost every chord is a major, and the riffs are simpler. The rhythm section is strong, however. The lyrics are simple statements mostly, like "which way to go" and "you're out of time." Granted, I never listened to Loop for the lyrics. But songs like "Breathe Into Me" were more evocative and unique.

Maybe it was a compromise between A Gilded Eternity and their earlier work, or maybe Robert just wanted to make a record that didn't necessarily draw too much from their past work. I had hoped for a successor to AGE, since that is by far my favorite Loop record, and "Sonancy" is not that.

However, it sounds great cranked, and it's got some of that Loop magic. "Fermion" in particular sounds like a monster when cranked in the car. If you liked their earlier work, you'll like this too. A good and very listenable but not great record. I still recommend it.

Yes, some pops here and there, but this is Fantastic record: Vivid, rocky, never boring and essential.
Really can't think I could have asked for a better return. Absolutely recommended

I spoke to Alex from levitation because I also got a black vinyl record despite ordering the red smoky clear vinyl version, and the hype sticker on the front even says that it has the colored vinyl inside, but anyway he was very nice and they’re going to replace it right away, and he said this about the situation:

“We found out a bit more about the situation - It appears that the wrong vinyl was inserted maybe even at random. That label has been having this issue across their vinyl shipments.”

The label releasing this record is Cooking Vinyl, so if the label is like a lot of labels and are having their vinyl records completely assembled and shrink-wrapped at the Pressing plant, then it sounds like a pressing plant issue to me, assuming they’re using the same plant for their releases.

Anyway bottom line, levitation was super nice (as always, good people over there) and immediately said that they would send me a corrected copy although they wanted to open up the record to verify that it was the right version of vinyl - which I said that was fine.

I didn't open mine until today to check the vinyl colour, and it's orangey black vinyl, but annoyingly, the inner sleeve is split on both sides.

Mine showed up today and it's the orangey black vinyl in the eighth photo.

For the record - there is a post from Robert on Facebook: "Soundheads, As you are aware, those of you that have the FUZZ CLUB edition of SONANCY had it sent out early. It has transpired that some copies are NOT Transparent ORANGE, but a blackish green.
THIS IS A MISTAKE! As the issue is with the pressing plant and clearly wrong, please make your complaints to Fuzz Club - it is an issue for them to rectify. I want you to have the edition that you paid for. But I’m afraid you have to make the complaint to Fuzz Club and insist they replace it with the correct version. This issue is outside of my control. But rest assured, I’m really not a happy bunny RH x" -
