- I first listened to the CD. Jacked up bass and treble. The mastering is pretty horrendous IMO. I basically had to turn both down almost to the bottom of their levels to enjoy it without it being too boomy. The vinyl mastering seems better but it does have the same sibilance issue most others are having issues with. Is there a download version that's not as bad as either (perhaps a high-res)? I never tried the DL card so I may have to find it and see how it is. The mixes sound good. I havent' compared to original YT uploads but I think they may have went in and remixed these for this release. Plus there's no Peel. I wouldn't mind a version with the John Peel introductions and any interviews. Plus I know they did more sessions for the BBC. It'd be cool to have a complete sessions release even if it was download only.
- Edited 2 years agoMost recordings on here are actually very rich and thick sounding. Broadcast's rendition of Nico's Sixty Forty is just gorgeous. Apart from the awful sibilance on World Backwards, i think this is a lovely record!
- Downside: I’ve heard better sounding records than this (especially record 1).
Upside: hey, it’s Broadcast! With the wonderful & unique Trish Keenan! - Experiencing a fair amount of harsh sibilance on record one.
World Backwards is nearly unbearable perhaps too many S words.
Record two overall good with some ticks and clicks.
Been anticipating this release for sometime.
