- Edited one year agoThis is a solid EP of African electronic music starting out with the absolute dancefloor burner Yagana. Man is it good. Pigeon is a band fronted by Falle Nioke, whose solo career has taken off in its own right recently starting with the excellent Youkounkoun EP in 2020. The other members have strong pedigree themselves, playing with the likes of Michael Kiwanuka, SAULT, and others.
Things calm down for two expansive tracks on A2 and B1 before heading back uptempo to close with War (Jam). This is a great buy for A1 alone, which is sure to be a weapon this summer. The others are enjoyable listens but don't rise to the same level in my eyes. That said, I was sold with 'Yagana'.
