Goasia – Dancing With The Blue Spirit

I was a big fan of 'From Other Spaces' and was really elated when I found out Goasia had released a second album this year. All tracks are really deep, organic slices of nu-wave goa although Transonic Fields is the standout track for me.

i agree totally with the comment below by JangoF76 except on one point, about how this album is offering more of the same goa as from the first album. I would argue and say that this album is much more ethnic and israeli influenced than the first album, especially when you look at the track names. Another thing i personally feel towards this album is the better connection between track names and the actual songs... meaning they sound like their named. Hell yes :)

Otherwise another strong album from Goasia, and if you liked their first album, you'll like this one too

Goasia's debut album 'From Other Spaces' was fantastic, a beautiful slice of old-school style Goa trance that sounded fresh rather than a just a rehash of the classic late nineties sound. I've also enjoyed most of the singles that have appeared on various compilations, so I was very excited when I discovered they had released a brand new album.

And for the most part it's a good offering. More of the same high quality, melodic Goa in the old-school style. That is the problem though - it is only more of the same. Played back to back with 'From Other Spaces' you'd be hard-pressed to tell where one album left off and the other began. Fortunately, FOS was such a strong production that this isn't necessarily a bad thing.

In short, it doesn't feel like they have progressed much since 2008, and it would've been nice if they had taken a few more chances with the new stuff instead of relying so heavily on their already tried and tested formula. However, fans of Goasia will not be disappointed, and 'Dancing With The Blue Spirit', taken on it's own merits, is still a strong album.
