When I Let You Down is a record that nobody on discogs has a bad word to say about, and when you actually listen to it for yourself its not difficult to understand why. When I Let You Down has everything a stone cold italo classic should have: decent vocals, a brilliant dark vibe that Depeche Mode WISH they could pull off, and a formula that keeps you on the edge of your seat for the entire 6 minutes. Whenever i went to the dances at the time, there wasnt an evening where they didnt play this, and i never got tired of it - in fact i just loved it even more the more they played it.

The only real negative about the track is the incredibly annoying "when i let you down" backup vocal, which is like nails to my eardrums quite frankly. An otherwise undisputable classic gets a point deducted for that one flaw. But it is a barely significant one, though, because without it When I Let You Down makes the entire disco come crashing down due to its sheer power.

Maurizio Sangineto aka Sangy was one of the people involved in this record. To his credit also is the production of the Antonello Difino led italo outfit The Creatures, and while they also had some dark exciters to their name (Believe In Yourself, Inspiration and Japan come to mind), i think their tracks are relatively easier on the blood pressure.

how do you stay still with this track of pure energy, the desire to dance and so much this trace will remain absolutely wonderful for eternity the 80s are unique and perhaps unrepeatable and an endless vortex of emotions a pure musical orgasm music is life !!!!!

The synths that start at 30+ seconds were probably inspired by the "A Little Bit Of Jazz" by The Nick Straker Band. I don't know if Nicholas Bailey took it from somewhere else himself, but I would be glad to know that.

The Fred Ventura remake is okay; Fred Ventura is a great artist but nothing compared to the M & G original!
