Reviews
- This is nice sounding pressing in my oppinion. Crispy highs and very low bass! No need to seek another pressing.
- Very solid pressing with nicely textured and airy highs. The cymbals sound great and are very well defined. Mids and bass are average, however. Bass is detailed but doesn’t quite grab down low.
- This sounds absolutely excellent! Crisp and powerful, you can tell the original masters were used. I own many, many different pressings of this album and this one will not be leaving the collection any time soon. A great option for anyone!
- So I actually have a copy that says "Rhino Vinyl" on Side 2, but Side 1 only has Warner Bros. I've picked up this copy new when it came out and just noticed this now. Does anyone know how common this is, or is this a rare version?
- Looking for this version for couple of years. Did not disappoint.
Few pops/crackles but sonically it's a beast! BEEEAAAASSST! - Edited 5 years agoGood reissue, at moments does feel a little bit compressed and lacking in bottom & midrange depth, but overall sonics are solid, enjoyable and quite well balanced - bass punch comes through fairly well for the most part, and that can only be a good thing because that's what this music REALLY needs.
As others mentioned, the top end is indeed bright, so cymbals can sometimes sound quite exaggerated and splashy. Still, it's an approach that works quite well, especially on the title track - giving me the feeling that Ron McMaster did his part big-time in 'freshening up' decades old master tapes and extracting a great deal of clarity that the modern generation can appreciate.
Rhino made this a facsimile of the original US pressing, so you don't get a gatefold sleeve, but they do make up for that deficiency with really, really lovely packaging in the form of a truly authentic vintage-style thick tip-on cover + protective poly-lined inner - and the pressing quality is spectacular...flat, flawless, perfectly centered, and apart from a small tick at the start of side 1, dead freaking silent from start to finish, not a mouse stirring...all the more amazing coming from the likes of Rainbo.
