- Agree with everyone here, just brilliant. Sooooo … anyone got a tracklist? Really keen to know who did ‘Hot Spot’ in particular.
- i picked up a copy of this in Australia and it's one of the best DJ mixes i have ever heard, so creative...a classic
- What can I say that Freddy Fresh hasn't already? This is a work of genius by cut and paste king Steinski. I can't imagine how much work went into this. Its an absolute classic. Freddy said it all. You need this!
- How can it even be possible that this masterpiece of craftsmanship lays unglorified, and undignified here on Discogs. As the tiger in Jungle Book said ("Could It be Possible that you don't know who this is?) Steinski the man, the DJ, The remixer, The Producer, the legend has laid down a masterpiece of mixing history here that covers genres that few DJs could even understand yet alone mix, edit and morph into workable pieces for this tapestry of sheer ART. Just the intro alone spans more complex arrangements and clever mixing tricks than many a pro could even come close to matching. The thing is, he doesn't just take records (MP3s to the "new" DJ's) and mix them together to create a "blend" Steinski takes fragments of sound, music, voice snips and "twists" them to carefully and meticulously make them "fit" into his vision for this mastermix. A true pioneer who did radio work in New York City and garnished his fame with partner Double Dee to come onto the scene by winning a mastermix contest for Tommy Boy records. He is no stranger to the studio or turntables. Sad thing is in todays world of mash ups and auto mixing few people will even understand the depth and sheer painstaking man hours that he must have put in to pull off this mastermix. Clever humorous interludes, sound effects, and customized blends (mashups) all put into this work to create and leave the listener inspired. A journey through the history of Dance, Jazz, Funk, Blues etc.. Worth a listen if not just for the hilarious skit with the "Role Model" rapper. I salute you Steinski and there is NO way Im going to sleep without at least one person discovering your contribution to DJ history..
