Reviews
- Live set aside…(its what Exit Stage Left should have been)
My Canadian first press has far better presence.
Nice fully rounded dynamics.
It might struggle with surface noise a bit but the oomph is there unlike the wonderful but more shimmery reissue. Its beautiful, but much brighter.
Get it none the less.
I’m being a bit nit-picky. - Edited 7 months agoLive material is absolutely staggering, elite level incredible material. Wow!!! Vinyl sounds excellent. Already have an original Moving Pictures and the 2015 so don’t need that but get this for the live stuff. A great companion to Exit Stage Left.
- Edited one year agoI think I have six different versions of moving pictures they all sound great but I think this one's just a little bit louder my original RL copy is great comparison and a highs so much better have no issues all five LPS were in great shape maybe a little bit of sound in between definitely worth buying great sound all around and I'm very picky
- My LP of the album is extremely warped. The live discs are nice and flat, so I hate to return it but it is boxed up and waiting to be picked up. Can't keep an Anniversary Edition of an album and not be able to listen to the actual album.
- Finally had a chance to sit down and do a listening session to compare the remastered studio album to my OG. The difference is not subtle. The OG blows the remaster out of the water. It's not even close. Note: I, along with many others bought this for the live content and it is incredible! Absolutely fantastic! 416 YYZ baby!
- An exquisite reissue of the undoubtedly best album of this incredible band. The Box Set is wonderful, very careful but without excesses; all in its proper measure. The quality of the pressing is very good. High quality edition essential on the shelf of any Rush fan.
- Edited 2 years agoThis is actually a 5 lp set, not 4 as the information at the top of this page states.
Rush was on top form at this time. Happily the mastering and pressing do not let the side down. Though there is a bit of warp on all lps, it is minor in my case and not enough to affect play. The live set (which is what most first edition types would be here for) is excellent, if somewhat manic and breathless, and the recording is distortion-free, although the soundstage is not as huge as one might imagine. The sound has a fair bit of detail but bass is a touch thin and not as chunky as would be ideal. Nevertheless, these are nitpicking points - if you are a Rush fan wanting a live set with the band in top form, this is for sure worth getting. - My Box arrived today (amazon germany, only 14 left on time of ordering 2 days ago, now just 1 left) and there is absolutely nothing to complain about (CZECH REPUBLIC-Sticker). I like the glossy pictures within the matte background and all vinyls are absolutely flat and wihtout any complaints. Heard this album a thousand times and still excited like a child to open this box! :-) Great Soundstage on my Philips Black Tulip Set from '81 with 200W AH495 Speakers and the golden GP412 Pickup with original elliptical Stylus.
- No, it's 99,9% certain that all these boxes has flaws. Either they are bowl-warped or warped at the edges.
