- Edited 6 days agoI believe the boxy sound was an artistic decision, with the overall sound feeling like a 60s mono record. The Mainline Song even features a callback to Pet Sounds. So I'm not going to criticise the sonics, and will say Matt @ Metropolis has done an excellent job considering the source material. The pressing itself is excellent -- vinyl is dead quiet, flat and centred. If you are a fan, you will enjoy this -- buy with confidence.
- I have to agree with many who have said that the mastering of the record is very strange...there is no depth, flat. Given how good the music is, you are left wishing you could find a way to have a better listening experience.
- I dont understand all this bad reviews, the vinyl sound its normal, not wonderful but nothing to be scandalized. And music quality here its supreme
- Looking for the version that was sold briefly signed by J. If anyone was lucky enough and wants to pass it along, please let me know...thanks!

- Great set of tracks and no complaints over the vinyl but as others have mentioned the abrasive and muffled production/mix lets this album down.
- I don't know what's going on to Jason Pierce. The pressing quality is surprisingly good, at least mine is clean and flat. but the sound is utter shit. I don't remeber any albums sounding worse than this. As previous reviewer mentioned, this is not right. there's somethings wrong with mastering, mixing, EQing or whatever. it's a real pain to listen this on vinyl. I've never tried streaming and won't do. Maybe it is recorded in this way? Extremely negatively speaking, this album doesn't even sound music to me :( disappointing 😑
- Seriously, what has happened in the mastering and pressing here. It’s thin and harsh. It’s not the first time later Spiritualized albums have sounded like this either - and some of the re-issues sound terrible too. Starting to wonder if Jason Pierce has lost the top end of his hearing - either that or the quality control of two separate record labels is seriously wanting. The thing is the Tidal version of the album doesn’t sound much better. It’s a shame because it’s his best record for a while IMO.
- if you like listening to your stereo by placing it in a bedroom on the other side of the house and closing all the doors, this album's for you.
