Show All 12 ReviewsMy copy has a pretty horrendous rip through the side A label, cutting it in three pieces. Although, considering the movie’s content, this could be considered a happy accident (but it’s definitely a major production error). I’ve got some audible repeating pops in at least three of the tracks across 4 sides, and random surface noise throughout, but the blue marbling does look gorgeous. I appreciate the dedication to vintage Italian poster art for the cover, but to me it doesn’t work as well in the square album art format and really feels designed to be a poster hung in a movie theater lobby or bus stop in 1980’s Italy instead of an LP jacket. After listening to this after the superior Lost Highway re-release treatment on splatter vinyl, I wonder what kind of different QC processes pressing factories have. The one this one came from probably should step it up a notch.
I kind of wanted to submit my picture of how beautiful this album is in light…. But there have been so many changes I didn’t know if I did the picture would stay…. I can say such a great press of this album…. I love everything about it

Kind of amazed that this sounds decent at all, but it really is rather strong though audibly digital (Precision AutoSonics is a company that digitizes analog tape, although quite well as evidenced by this release). Would recommend it, especially with the very nice aesthetics otherwise (great original Italian poster art that's nearly as startling as the film itself included).

My Side C is so extremely off center that it's a pain to listen. Constant annoying Vow-effect. Guess I was unlucky.
Edit: Got my replacement copy and similar problem: Side C is very off center and you can hear a really annoying vow in all tracks. How is your copy? I suspect stamper wasn't aligned properly for several copies - so it's not just one copy affected.

Stunning pressing! The vinyl is dead silent, flat, and beautiful! The blue marbling is awesome. The music is so dynamic and full. Excellent packaging with really great liner essay.
For fans of Lynch and Badalamenti, this is a must-own release!

Kudos to seller who put this up for $35, unlike the inflated bs prices everywhere else. Of course it was snatched in a nanosecond. Luckily it's seem to cause a downward price trend.

[UPDATE 4/24: Forgot that Disc 1 includes the Bobby Vinton song that wasn't present in the past releases; that would give this edition more value]
Had quite a deja vu with my copy of the Deluxe Edition. As of this writing, I own this and the 2017 pressing of the soundtrack, and noticed they shared an imperfection. The imperfection occurs within a couple of sections from track two (Side A) of the Original Soundtrack, "Night Streets / Sandy And Jeffrey": one during the swelling crescendo (aka where the film introduced Laura Dern's character Sandy), and the second when the horns blast the loudest before meeting the film's leitmotif; loud enough to hear a scratchy sound. The noises are there in their exact timing and disruption level for both versions, and to put more into context, the 2017 album was my second copy; it had the same issue that I had with the first that I replaced. Considering this release isn't using the same stampers as before, this is alarming coincidence for me.
Otherwise, I'm generally pleased with this release. Love the marbled look of the records to match the fabric that's the film's title, and repeated imperfection aside, I was okay with the pressing quality. Disc 2, aka Lumberton Firewood, is comparatively in quieter quality than the first disc since it's new to this release, and it's nice to have a B-sides worth of incidentals, alternative cuts, and what I assume are unreleased score tracks. Having the liner notes with comments from Lynch and Badalamenti gives this release some value, even if portions were repeated at least from other media, specially the "Mysteries of Love" documentary. Having a more complete soundtrack definitely makes the Deluxe Edition worthy of a double-dip to me, and I hope the label wouldn't let this record stay as a Record Store Day exclusive.

This 2 LP set sounds fantastic….. I’m so glad…. It feels like you are living the movie…. No surface noise…. It’s fantastic

The blue marbled vinyl sounds excellent and my copy is flawless. Disc 1, the original album as issued in 1986/87, sounds fine and strong -- and it finally includes Bobby Vinton's song, "Blue Velvet" (which really deserves to be there). Disc 2, a collection of soundscore and effects bits and pieces, on the other hand, sounds a bit dull in comparison. Nevertheless, it is fascinating -- and certainly a must-have for Blue-Velvet-the-movie die-hard aficionados and lovers of smart soundscores. But it might be a bit of a luxury indulgement, if you ask me (that's what "deluxe" stands for, I guess), perhaps not worth shelling out so much money for (the RSD price seems highly inflated ... Ah, those record companies know very well how to get into our pockets...). The liner notes, however, are informative and interesting, and adorned by beautiful film stills.
