For what it's worth, I really like this EP and am glad I have bought it. It is NOT one of those oh-too-many-after-death marginal releases of poor quality or little relevance.

First track: why the re-title? "Johnny” is the main character of the song, but beyond that I don't really get it. This song has always mystified me a bit, but maybe I should read the lyrics (!) . . . anyway, it is a fun / funky opener to the EP.

Then the final 2 x grand piano tracks are superb. They totally open up the range of the EP. Beautiful piano playing. And because of the piano playing these two tracks add a side of Bowie rarely committed to vinyl - so, a perfectly-preserved part of Bowie's legacy.

Bowie's intro remarks to the 2 x live tracks bring the whole EP to life. He remarks on his “strangled tendons” (oh my god, no evidence of that! He certainly ‘copes’), and his reason is hilarious, full-on Bowie: “I’m working with a band called Nine Inch Nails, it’s a bit like singing with an aggressive Boeing 747. So, I’ve got what is euphemistically called tour voice . . . “. Wow! [Bing Crosby to NIN, and all the others lucky enough to have worked with him.]

The tender, poignant and powerful singing of Small Plot of Land and My Death is . . . well, unparalleled. Very moving. At the end he really could do anything, tour with NIN or sing ballads to a grand piano.

A great release in my opinion. I loved Johnny Downloader instantly after hearing the first 10 secs. A very interesting early version of a great song.
Oxford Town is also a wonderful alternative mix. Pity that there is no info about this song. Was it once intended for a single and then discarded?
And even though I prefer studio music above live music, the two live tracks are equally amazing as well!
        Highly recommended!

The type of RSD vinyl we hope for this is. 4 exclusive tracks. The haunting piano duo's with Garson are exceptional. Enjoy listening to the early incarnation of Americans. Oxford Town is the pick for me, love the Bass and Saxophone pushed up in the mix. Wonderful music all round.

This is fantastic. Side A is alright, but it's the live tracks on side B that are the standouts on this EP! "A Small Plot of Land" has such an amazing arrangement, and "My Death" is just achingly beautiful! Really great release!

The sound quality of the live tracks is no good at all.and i dont thing its a pressing error. Its like someone on the frond row recorded it with a cheap recorder.Shame since the tracks and the rendition of Bowie/Garson are superb. Its the same quality with last year 's live/the soul tour

Great stuff. Release material that is unreleased and it will be purchased.

Fascinating release. “I’m Afraid Of Americans” is one of my favourite songs by Bowie, so to hear the demo, rough and early lyrical version is superb. This is a nice press. Though 4 songs on this and 6 on Toy E.P? Hmmmm.

It was 29,99 euro on RSD in the local stores (Holland).
The whole point of Record STORE Day is completely gone.
No need to go to the stores anymore as almost everything is available on Discogs same day, most releases for even LESS money as in stores! (excluding the shipping)
