Edited 7 years agoNote that B7 "Hey Jude" is just an instrumental outro, Sarah does not sing on this one.
Otherwise a very interesting album with orchestrations very often far from the original songs, which is exactly the purpose I was looking for that record.
And the voice of Sarah Vaughan, goosebumps...
I personally have not been one to sit and listen to female jazz vocalists. However, a handful of the covers of this album are well beyond many of the countless other covers that exist of Beatles tunes.. but, there are also a couple that miss the mark completely. I can only chalk it up to the disco crazy that was full swing during the release of this album. I'm sure those covers where great at the time, but unfortunately like most disco records, they just don't hold up over time.. still an interesting piece of Beatles related music. No clue how it stands as a Sarah Vaughan album though..
