Softer than a fluffy blanket, warmer than diving headfirst into your girlfriend's bosoms, one of the most glorious downtempo albums ever to grace my ears! I first got into Ovuca (aka Aleksi Perälä) when I heard his cosy song "Afternoon Girl" on the Rephlex compilation "The Braindance Coincidence" (go check it out). And I knew I had to listen to more.

And so I did! I listened to the whole album one night in bed, and I got exactly what it said on the tin: "This album will keep you warm for one hour." It sure fucking did! :D

But it's a real shame that this kind of music still lays undiscovered by common, easy-searching folk. No-one's looking anymore. It's all on fucking Spotify and iTunes! However, iTunes has some good stuff and also Bandcamp. But enough rambling. What I mean is that you shouldn't have music spoon-fed to you. You need to fucking look for it! Put in some bloody effort! And this album, along with other IDM/braindance epics that I've listened to, they all prove my point.

I highly recommend this album, like most others I've listened to. Get warm wherever you are! (Btw, I bought the digital version of this on A.P's BC. Go check it out!)

This is my favourite Ovuca release by far. I've always considered Ovuca to be a little too flippant & cheesy for my taste, but here he keeps it smooth & easy without abandoning his playfulness altogether. There are some gems here, namely the Astrobotnia-styled quirkiness of King Rupa Rupa, the catchy melancholy of Treetment & Cliffs, and the spacey creativity of Innocent Pedestrian. From the title one could expect a doodling pisstake, but this is clearly not the case.

This really is one of the most polished albums that Rephlex have released. It's certainly Aleksi Perälä's best work. My problem with Ovuca's other albums was that they felt too disjointed; perhaps the point, but I was never that into Lactavent or Onclements (despite them containing some great tunes).
Wasted Sunday, on the other hand, is absolutely superb. The album works as a whole. There isn't a dull moment from start to finish and each track is superbly produced with a sense of humour present that doesn't intrude on the relaxing vibe.
Perälä is capable of some complicated programming and clever production, and still managed to keep it accessable.
I seem to remember buying this a few days after it was released and it's probably had more play than any other CD/LP in my collection. A braindance masterpiece.
