- Maybe I'm in the minority here? I actually have always liked the design of the cover art and packaging of this release. It's what originally drew me to the album way back when I originally came across it while venturing through my local mall and checking out Hot Topic's vinyl section (as one did back in 2010, do they still have a vinyl section?).
Sadly, after sitting for a number of years, my needle did the electric slide across the length of the record's grooves. I know, you're probably thinking the needle was bad, right? Well, I tested it on another record (or two) and no issue. So...
I did read somewhere (perhaps on this very website?) that this was an issue with older picture discs. Where the grooves would wear out over time. This record only sitting for 7 or 8 years seems a little extreme though!
Not seeing any other comments mentioning this so maybe I'll take a chance on another 2010 copy. I DO like that "ugly on purpose" cover and jacket design :)
Anyone else experience this with said release? Or other picture discs? I feel like I experienced this with another release but can't recall the exact disc. - This is actually decent sounding for a picture disc. If you out here looking for audiophile quality in a picture disk, you will always be disappointed. Packaging is a little sketch but just put it in an archival sleeve and stick the whole thing in an orphan sleeve or album cover you probably got sent from a discog seller.
some of the most hideous vinyl packaging I have ever laid my eyes/hands on. the picture disc and the choppy graphed, vomit colored nature of it could have been tolerable in a proper sleeve, but oh my, with clear plastic and awkwardly sized artwork sheet, there is no escaping the ugly. also pressing is not impressive sounding at all, inconsistent volume drops bring the lazy, tin sounding "beats" to the foreground, leaving much to desire.
Rill Rill is still worth though I suppose.
