Reviews
- Came in the crappy paper sleeves that encourage records to get dirty.
As far as the sound it’s all over the board. I would’ve loved to hear more bass and low end but this record is all about the treble. Some of the songs are very well mixed and others are just awful.
I’m a HUGE RHCP fan so this record is very important to me. I would seek other pressings if you truly want the best sound. - I don't understand to all these harsh reviews. My pressing is totally awesome, I wasn't expecting this after I read all these reviews first. Sound is excellent!!! Can't believe it, but honestly this is one of my best sounding vinyls I have, really! It's so strange that you can buy this original vinyl from 2002 still to this date for kinda cheap price, if you are considering to buy it, just buy it!!
- I prefer my copy bought from UK in Spring of 2016 over Spotify version which I assume is the same as the CD. Just my two cents.
- Edited 4 years agoWow not sure why this pressing is getting such harsh reviews. I've owned my copy since 2003. Had to order an import copy because the US ones here were in limited supply at the time. I love my copy and think it sounds better than on CD.
2/24/20: I've since sold this pressing and have purchased a US copy which sounds much cleaner imo. - Edited 8 years agoThis is a pretty bad pressing, at least my copy is bad. It fails all the tests. It's likely styrene and has flat, rough outer edges. Center hole is sloppy and labels are visibly not centered, even without the record spinning. Applying rotations, watching it from the edge is like watching a sin wave on a scope. This is embarrassing. The sound is spitty, a little harsh but seems to have decent range. It's listenable, but hardly enjoyable. It sounds like a poor imitation of what a record is supposed to sound like, or something you'd see on a TV show that is making fun of the supposed inferiority of records; it's absurd.
Even the label is crappy. Black text on Red sticker. lousy logo sprawling across it, with "Disc 1, Side 1" printed in small, uninspired plain english. I don't feel I've yet encounted such a stoic label.
And EVEN the sleeve sucks. It's a little looser and larger and thinner and floppier than any other 2xLP sleeve on my shelf. I wonder if this is not the official release, lol
Honestly, even the hype sticker was really lame. "BY THE WAY", facts, "16 Songs". "Over 68 minutes of music."
It merely states that it has music, sixty eight minutes of it, and it has that one song. Looks like a walmart special sticker, but red. I think this whole re-issue was run by a out-of-touch, incompetent robot.
All that, with signature plain paper white squirkle sleeves, of course.
I'm gonna see if I can get my money back. - Slightly fatiguing and ringing to my ears. Doesn't sound better than the CD... Actually, I might even prefer the CD!
